Quilters Guild
Yellville
Meeting Date: 1st Tuesday of each month
Start Time & Meeting Duration: 6 to 7:30 or 8 pm
Meeting Place: First Baptist Church, corner of Hwy 14W and Main Street in Yellville
How to get there: Take Hwy 62 into Yellville, turn onto Hwy 14 West. The church is on the left at the next corner.
Meeting Format: A brief business meeting is followed by a speaker and/or demonstration.
General Guild Activities: We formed our group three years ago, as there was no formal quilting group near us. Many of our members work during the day, so meeting in the evenings allows all of like mind in the community to work together to share techniques and ideas and learn about the art of quilting.
Quilt Exhibition: We host the annual Nora Jefferson Quilt Exhibition during Yellville's famous Turkey Trot Festival during the second weekend in October (in 2008 it is October 10-11).
Workshops: We usually hold mini-workshops following our regular meetings. Weekend workshops are used for more detailed instructions and time.
Retreat: None yet.
Community Projects: We make baby quilts and lap quilts for the area Health Department. The baby quilts are then given to Marion County's young moms and their babies, and the lap quilts go to people who are convalescing.
