Meeting Place: First United Methodist Church, 9th & Port Arthur, Mena
How to get there: From US 71S (Pickering Avenue) turn northwest on Mena Street to Janssen Avenue, then left on Janssen past the park to 9th Street. Turn right on 9th to the church.
Meeting Format: We work together, sharing our ideas and learning new techniques. We advance our ongoing projects and have a Show & Tell session.
General Guild Activities: We make quilts for various charities, such as our Yellow-Ribbon Quilt to raise funds for families of our National Guard members who were shipped to Iraq. We do a Block-a-Month Quilt, a Mystery Quilt and monthly color blocks as prizes for members.
Quilt Exhibition: We present our handiwork in the annual Ouachita Quilt Show, held the first weekend in June at the Polk County Fairgrounds.
Other Events: Our "Christmas in January" celebration, with a block exchange and refreshments.
Workshops: Occasionally, at various times.
Retreat: None.
Community Projects: We make baby quilts as gifts to Children's Hospital and quilts for our local women's shelter.
